About

Ali is a freelance Theatre Director & Maker from Yorkshire.

He is a founder and co-runner of Barrel Organ Theatre, for whom he has directed award-winning productions NOTHING and Some People Talk About Violence. In 2014 Ali was the recipient of the Buzz Goodbody Award for Directing. In 2019 he also founded Holy What theatre.

He trained at the University of Warwick and has worked as Assistant/ Associate Director with the National Theatre, Headlong, Chichester Festival Theatre, the Royal Exchange, the Leeds Playhouse, The Gate, and Forced Entertainment.

He has also worked as a dramaturg, script-reader and with community and youth groups around the country.

Ali is proud to be a selector for the National Student Drama Festival.
